Quoting from a CNN.com article today:
No matter what type of new product Apple unveils at its much-anticipated press event later this week, Xavier Yaffar says he will buy it. Whatever the cost. "I don't even have to look at it," the 48-year-old said.
Is that amazing or what? Warren Buffett would call this a "moat" or an intrinsic value that some companies possess that makes their products such darlings to a loyal customer base, that they would buy anything from that company without even having to "look at it".
Wow.
Apple Inc., the Cupertino, California, company that's the darling of the gadget world right now, is widely expected to release a touch-screen "slate" computer on Wednesday at an invite-only event in San Francisco, California, according to blogs and news reports. Rumors say the device will have about a 10-inch screen and will look kind of like an enormous iPhone, but Apple hasn't commented on the subject.
You know I do speak frequently about my love for Apple's products these days... and yes, I used to be one of those PC lovers who scoffed at the diehard artsy Mac types, but I am not so set in my ways as to ignore greatness when it stares me in the face. Apple is greatness.
One thing I am very pleased about is the way Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, has finally been given credit where huge credit is due. He started Apple back in the 70's, then was actually fired by a mis-guided board in the 80's, only to come back in the late 90's with creative fires and marketing genius to promote products that just work and just feel good to use. He was honored as Entrepreneur of the Year last year and rightfully so. Too many celebrated people are not so aptly celebrated until after they have died, which is truly a shame. Mr. Jobs has suffered life-threatening illness including pancreatic cancer and a liver transplant in recent years, so it's nice to see him producing great products and working an agenda that will outlive him for many years.
I can't wait for Apple's tablet computer. I will buy it without even checking it out and I have purposely avoided the Kindle despite it's popularity as an e-reader, just so that I will get the very best when it finally arrives... I have a long list of e-books to buy and a fistful of greenbacks earmarked for my Apple tablet... bring it on, Mr. Jobs.
