What Separates The Elite?

It's been a while - I know - The business and the business of life have kept me hopping for the last couple of months. But, I couldn't resist posting this having just read it in Fortune's online site:
What if I told you that there was a group of hard-driving workaholics who tend to have advanced degrees and bring a level of talent and skill to their jobs that attracts premium pay in the global economy? Scholars have found that this group is more likely than much of the population to raise their children in two-parent homes.
You might think this was a group people would admire, even emulate, right? Not so. For this is the much-maligned 1%, whose media infamy via the Occupy Wall Street protests, followed by President Obama's populist reelection message, is now firmly embedded in the American psyche.
Hmmm. Who would have thought that an advanced education, hard work and close-knit family would separate the elite from the rest of us? Sounds like lifestyle choices if you ask me, which means just about anyone could make those choices. It would be interesting to see what percentage of the other 99% of the population also has advanced education, works hard and has a close family? I reckon the number is not small. So, while it those character traits and lifestyle choices don't guarantee placement in the elite bin, I think getting there would be extremely difficult without at least possessing them. Peace.
